For the last few years, a debate has raged in the hockey world. On one side you have hockey specialists that recommend that kids aged 8 and younger play on a smaller surface (often half-ice). On the other side of the debate are the hockey purists and parents who believe that half-ice hockey is not “real hockey”.For the advocates of a small ice surface for small kids, the main issue is proportion. A full ice surface is simply too big for younger kids.

It’s that time of year when the arenas are abuzz with
rumours about who will be coaching which team next season. Let’s try to
put some of those rumours to rest- at least for a few more weeks:
No coaches have been
selected for next season. Anyone suggesting otherwise is either
mis-informed or telling a big fib.
All coach candidates
(returning and new) must apply, and the deadline for applications is February

by the Coach Selection Committee, and interviews will not be scheduled to
begin before February 13.

Congratulations! To our Major Peewee AA team for their successful Championship win at
this past weekend’s Oshawa Hockeyfest Tournament.
Their first game on Friday morning against
the Oshawa Generals resulted in a 2-1 win, then a 2nd stellar win of
5-1 late Friday night against the Vic-Haute Yamaska team from Quebec. Even
though the Clippers had a 3-2 loss their
3rd game Saturday night against the Waterloo Wolves, they knew their hard work and determination
paid off as they were moving on to the Semi Finals Sunday. Read More
