Novice AA Ajax Break the Ice Tournament Champs.
Wow Wow Wow!
The words used to describe the opening games this past weekend, of our 2010 Novice AA Clippers by Coach Gary A.

The boys kicked off their season in the Ajax, Break the Ice tournament on Thursday, September 6th versus the Oshawa Minor Generals. Down 1-0 in the Third, the boys would rally with two goals to win 2-1.

Facing Markham Waxers the next morning, the boys found themselves behind 5-1 in the second, but would prove to make things interesting by exciting their fans with three goals, to close the gap on a final of 5-4.

This effort proved to be valuable in the standings, as Saturday in their final first round game, the boys would net 8 against the AJAX knights for a final of 8-0. This seated them second in pool A.

In the first knock out game against the Pickering Panthers, the boys continued the scoring touch to a final of 9-1, which setup a rematch for Sunday against Oshawa.

With strong efforts on both sides of the puck, the boys would hold on to a repeat score of 2-1.

The championship game was set against the winner of pool B and undefeated Whitby Wildcats. Tied 1-1 in the second, Stouffville added two quick goals that had their fans screaming, and Whitby rattled. Holding the lead in the third, Whitby went on to tie it on two short handed goals, setting up a 5 minute overtime. The two teams went back and forth, exchanging shots, which led to a scramble to the left of the Whitby goal, when from his knees, Peter S threw the puck on goal, and erupted the stouffville fans.
Winning 4-3 in overtime, in the first games of the season, the Novice AA Clippers we’re bringing the championship home.

When asked about the weekend, Coach Gary had this to say, “ I can’t say enough good things about these boys... what a resilient group. They don’t give up and we won’t go away without a fight.”
