UPDATE on WSMHA IP Division (2011 and younger)
IP Program House League
After looking at our Cross-Ice IP division numbers, the WSMHA has decided to continue with the 3 levels of IP division (Acton, May & Hassard).
(Tyke (2010) and Novice (2009) will each have 4 teams and will remain full ice divisions.)

IP Development Program Skate
Players born in 2011 who are interested in participating in a special skills development program are invited to attend an “evaluation” skate on Tuesday September 26 5-6:00pm at Clipper Complex. A fee of $15 will apply. The program itself will start in October and continue through March. There are a limited number of openings available and participants will  be selected on the basis of their current skill levels.  More information about this program including fees will be available shortly. (TRYOUT FORM)

IP stands for Initiation Program. The IP House League program enables children to play & practice with children at a similar level of skill development. Having 3 levels in the IP division will enable the association to implement programs which combine games & skill development components and can be tailored to the child’s position on the “Hockey learning curve”.

While all 3 programs will feature both games and skill development, younger or less-skilled players will spend a relatively greater amount of time on learning skills (particularly early in the season). Older and/or more experienced/skilled players will participate in half-ice games earlier in the season and more frequently.

The Keith Acton division is designed for younger children new to the game. The Brad May division is designed for mid-level players, and the Bill Hassard for children who are older and have played hockey before.

All 3 divisions will participate in half-ice mini-games played against another team from within the same mini-division. The coach will be on the ice in place of a referee in order to assist the children. Because these mini-games use half of the ice only (separated by half-boards at centre ice), two games will be played simultaneously in order to allow all children to participate. No score is kept.
