Stouffville Clippers U16MD - Year Ender Bender Tournament 2022 Gold Medal Champions
The Year Ender tournament signifies the end to the hockey season. Our team was excited to play and bring home another medal to add to the two the gold medals they won in the previous two tournaments they played this season and silver medal they won in the York Simcoe MD Championships.   We started out our Round Robin, with a 2-0 win over the Caledon Hawks.

The 2nd game was against a fellow York Simcoe Team the Newmarket Renegades and the Clippers came out with a 8-1 win.  The 3rd game of the tournament was against with Brampton 45s and we won the game 4-2.

The Clippers finished the round robin in first place in Pool A and set up a game against our regular season rival Barrie in the Semi Finals. It was an exciting fast paced game and where Barrie scored first but our boys came back and were once again victorious with a 4-1 win. With Aurora winning the other semi final game against Caledon. This set up a rematch of the York Simcoe Finals from the week before.

Our boys were poised, confident and determined entering the finals. The stands were filled with spectators and there was some nervousness in the air as these two teams are very well matched and there is always exciting hockey each time they play.

In the first period Aurora was the first to score. The Clippers came back in the second period with 2 goals and the score was 2-1 for the Clippers. In the 3rd period, the Clippers still held the lead. The score was 4-2 for the Clippers with a mere 5 minutes remaining in the game. Aurora tried valiantly to score but the Clippers were not giving them the opportunity to get the puck. The Clippers were able to score again with a mere 2 minutes left on the clock. The crowd went wild and with a score of 5-2 Aurora scored one last goal, but it wasn’t enough. The final score was 5-3 and a gold medal going to a well-deserved Clippers U16MD team!

Congrats to our coaches and the players on the U16 MD team on an extremely successful Season and to end on a great high note was amazing! Three Gold medals in three tournaments they entered and 1 Silver Medal in the YS Finals. They represent their town honourably and respectfully. Looking forward to more exciting hockey from these players’ next season.
