Police Vulnerable Sector Check

WSMHA requires a clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) be filed when someone volunteers for the first time and every 3rd season thereafter. For more information on the Police Vulnerable Sector Check process and to submit an online request , visit the York Regional Police website.

In order to expedite the process of obtaining a PVSC, the applicant requires a signed letter from the WSMHA office which confirms that the applicant is a volunteer with the association. The letter will allow the YRP to charge the volunteer processing rate and waive the extra fee should you need to be fingerprinted because your date of birth matches someone in the RCMP database.

The original Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) letters must be submitted—photocopies will not be accepted—and you will not be reimbursed without the original.

2021 - 2022 VSS Letter Request

Please note: Health cards and Social Insurance Number cards are not accepted. Requests for any level of police record check can be made only by the applicant. Third-party requests will not be accepted.

If fingerprints have been taken in the past or it is discovered that fingerprints are necessary for any reason, the online process will stop and the applicant will be asked to attend the Community Resource Centre to complete the application.
