Toronto Penguins 11th Annual Tournament Champs
The Stouffville Clippers Minor Atom A team are presented the Championship banner at centre ice at Chesswood arena for winning the Toronto Penguins 11th Annual Tournament this past weekend.

Going undefeated in the tournament dominated by GTHL teams, the Clippers ended up defeating the only other OMHA team , the Barrie Colts by a score of 6-3 in the championship game. Scoring for the Clippers were Michael Hary with 2 goals, Spencer Krabi and Nicholas Olidis with a goal and an assist each, Mark Assal with one goal and Aaron Kirkness with the empty netter to seal the deal. Stephen Tulk who anchored the defence in the tournament drew a well deserved assist in the game while goaltender Jordan Ogden was credited with the win backstopping the Clippers to the title.

The Clippers played their first game against a GTHL team, the Vaughan Panthers and won by a score of 4-2. Matt Kovac scored a goal and an assist, while Christopher Holman, Kirkness and Olidis scored single tallies. Assisting on the goals were Assal and Hary.

The same afternoon the Clippers won handily over the GTHL's Toronto Penguins by a score of 9-2. Hary scored 3 goals while Assal and Krabi both scored 2 goals for the Clippers. Single tallies were recorded by Holman and Billy Starke with a nice short handed goal.
Assists went to Kovac and Liam MacInnis with two apiece, Kirkness, Tristan Meiliunas, Olidis, Starke and Jack Valleau with one each. Defence man Jacob Turney and Jack Boston fought hard to hold the blue line in the game.

The third game saw the Clippers play the Oakland JR. Grizzlies a very skilled team from the USA to a 3-3 tie. It was a game that saw the Clippers down by a score of 3-0 but with no quit in this team they fought back hard to earn a well deserved draw and put them into the semi finals. Scoring for the Clippers was Krabi with a goal and an assist, MacInnis and Kirkness. Assist were credited to Holman with two, Assal and Kovac with single helpers.

The Semi Finals on Sunday morning saw a rematch with the Clippers playing Oakland to a 1-1 tie at the end of regulation time with Assal scoring the lone goal to tie the game.
Clippers goalie Ethan Volpe played an outstanding game making several key saves against a strong Oakland squad to preserve the tie at the end of regulation.
A dramatic five minute overtime was played with no result, therefore the two teams entered into a shoot out. Holman scored the first goal in the shoot out, while the Oakland shooter scored as well. The second shooters failed to score leaving it to Krabi to score the winning goal, combined with a key save by Clipper goaltender Volpe preserving the victory for the Clippers and allowing them to move into the Championship game versus the Colts.

All the parents and team supporters were very proud of the boys and hopes that this will convert into a great playoff run for the Clippers. Other members of the staff are coach Craig MacInnis Pete Hary, Terry Ogden and Brad Boston.
