Boyd's Super Sport Players of the Games
For the full Story on Ethan and Casey's amazing games please read on....

November 26th:  Our player of the game is Casey Cobel. As a defenseman, Casey’s play goes largely unnoticed. However, the coaching staff pays special attention to this position. During this game, Casey played a very good two way game. In his own end he would dig for the puck and shoot it up the boards out of our end allowing the forwards to take the play the other way. Casey then followed the play into the opposition zone and helped his teammates pressure the puck. On one particular play, Casey was caught a little too deep in the opposition’s end allowing them to break out toward our goal. Casey put his head down, skated as hard as he could and finally caught the puck carrier from behind, taking the puck away from him and eliminating the scoring chance. This is the kind of play that Casey has demonstrated all season long and we hope it will continue.  Congratulations and keep up the great work Casey!
November 29th: Our player of the game is Ethan Pompilio. Ethan usually plays forward and always gives 110%. Like the rest of his teammates, Ethan is a joy to coach and is eager to learn. This week was his opportunity to learn a new position... goalie. As has become our custom, Ethan’s teammates got off to a slow start which meant Ethan was tested early and often. He responded by making save after save giving his team a chance to stay in the game. It was a close game with scoring chances at both ends and Ethan held his own. We finally scored our first goal early in the second period only to have the opposition score a couple of minutes later. This was a very close game. Half way through the third period we were unable to clear the puck out of our end which led to a scoring chance for the opposition. Ethan made the first save however, the rebound went straight to their team and the puck ended up in our net. Just like the first goal, Ethan did not have a chance. With 4 minutes left in the game, the coaches on the bench challenged our players to get the tying goal. A minute later it was a tie game again. Did I mention that this was a very close game?? The last couple of minutes of the game did not produce any more goals largely due to the play of the goalies, but especially Ethan who played amazing and allowed his teammates to earn a 2 – 2 tie. Great work and congratulations Ethan!
