Back to Back battle vs Eagles
After travelling to Markham for another exhibition game which saw the Clippers score 2 goals (Highest output this season) from sniper Mason Whitham, the Clippers were ready to try and breakdown the pesky Eagles from EG. In game 1 on Thursday night, the Eagles came out flying and pressured the Clippers from the get go. The Clippers could not keep up in the first period and found themselves behind by 4 goals heading into the second period (Remember Clippers, always move your feet when battling for that puck.) In the second and third periods, our compete level was much higher and we were able to move the puck out of our zone and relieve some of the pressure from EG. The Clippers were proud of their effort despite losing 10-0. (Keep your heads high Clippers, you are doing great!!)

The Friday night rematch saw the Clippers come out with a vengeance against EG and this time pressured them from the get go. EG found it hard to break down our stingy and always reliable defence (Hayden, Francesco, Sara, Matthew and Savannah!) After allowing 4 goals in the first period the night before, EG had a only a 2 - 0 lead going into the second period. Much better result as the Clippers skated and competed harder than the night before.

In the second period, the Clippers had a chance to pull 1 back after Matteo broke in on a clear 1v1 against the inexperienced EG goalie however the keeper made a huge save to keep the score sheet clean. In addition to the breakaway miss, the Clippers also hit the iron in the period prior and it was clear that things were not going to go our way the rest of the evening. A few bad bounces and EG were ahead for good winning 7-0. Our goalies Luca and Robbie were under seize however they continue to play stellar and keep us in games going forward.

A few bright spots about our forwards to point out:

Jack - Great effort in trying to chase the puck
John - Keep using the big size and strength
Malcolm - Excellent improvement thus far, keep skating hard
Mason - Becoming a threat to score every time you are out there
David - Great improvement in positioning
Michael - Strong on the boards, keep it up
Matteo - When you use your speed, you can almost always win puck battles
Cole - Your head is staying up more and more, keep it going
Sebastian - Your skating skills are greatly improving

We are getting better with every game Clippers but remember that we can only have a chance to score and win if we always try our best and never give up!! We are proud of all of you and we have no doubt that if we keep working to the best of our ability, we will end up being very good hockey players!

Up next, the vicious Bradford Bulldogs!!!
