Clippers Seeing Stars in Richmond Hill
The Clippers travelled to Richmond Hill on Sunday afternoon to battle the top ranked Richmond Hill Stars. The previous two games vs the Stars saw our team pressed from start to finish losing a combined 24-0. RH is the cream of the crop in the division and have some great talent and we knew this game would be very difficult.

The coaching staff felt that we would have a better chance to defend by putting our big presence kids on defence to try and hold out the Stars attack. Big John and Hayden were moved to D and they proved to be a force back defending the net.

The Stars started fast pressuring our D from the opening face off. Starting goalie Luca had to make several big saves to keep our momentum high however RH were able to jump out to a 2-0 lead in the first period. The Clippers showed something that we have not seen yet this year and that was intensity throughout the period. Our kids battled hard and RH were getting frustrated as our D (Francesco, Sara, Jack, John, Hayden and Matthew) stifled RH's star players. We skated, used our size and strength and competed for that puck for 8 mins straight of that first period and it paid off when Mateo threw the puck to the net (Good things happen Clippers when you get pucks to the net) and it somehow found its way into the opponents goal. We ended the period down only 2-1 against the best team in our division. We told the team during the intermission that we felt they played the best period by far of the season and that their hard work was starting to show. If we keep up that kind of effort in our remaining games, we will start scoring more goals and possibly get a win!

In the second and third periods, RH's talents were too much for our inexperienced players as they went on to a 13-1 win. Our goalies (Luca and Robbie were stellar once again) and I felt that our forwards (Lucas, Mateo, Savannah, Cole, David, Malcolm, Mason, Michael and Sebastian) never gave up and battled hard.

Be proud Clippers as you are starting to understand the game of hockey and it is not long before we win our first game.

MVP to Big John for his first defensive assignment. I think we have found your position :) Sorry Dad!!
