Clippers Close the Christmas Holidays in a Blaze
Finally, the holidays have come to a close following two weeks of family, fun and festivities.  And while many are longing for the NHL to resume, who amongst us isn`t so, so ready for SCHOOL to resume even more?

The Minor Atom AE Clippers faced their share of hockey over the break, completing 4 regular season games and one exhibition match up, alternating wins and losses through the play.

The holidays started off with a win against the Redmen (Dec 23), followed by a loss in exhibition against the Wildcats (Dec 28), reverting to a win against the Eagles (Dec 30), back to a loss facing the Tigers (Jan 3), and rounded out with a solid win against the Blaze (Jan 6).  While the Clipper Kids didn`t go in for Christmas tourney play, they were kept busy on the ice throughout the holidays and still have five remaining regular season games to complete league play.

The Clippers put out a strong showing to finish off the holidays, putting up 6 unanswered goals against the Georgina Blaze, who showed much improvement over the earlier games.  Still, the Clippers put the Blaze behind quickly, scoring in the first shift at 9:14 (18 from 93 and 27), and again at 8:40 on the second shift (8 from 15 and 37).  However, the goalie regained composure, and limited any advances on the scoreboard until 7:17 of the second, in spite of tremendous forward pressure.  Michael, Christian, Cal, Owen and Mick had numerous chances that just didn`t quite connect or where the goalie made some miraculous saves.  The boys in black were pumped and passing, and it was only a matter of time before the scoreboard would light up with more points for their efforts.

In the end, we had 3 forwards each vying for the elusive hat-trick - with Connor, Hayden and Michael each putting up 2 goals supported by excellent teamplay to keep the offensive zone busy.  The final was 6-0 for the Clippers.  Matthew had to work hard, nonetheless, for the shut-out, turning away a commanding break away in the first period, and handily covering up anything that erred in his direction.

The Clippers have a pretty intensive January, facing the not-to-be under estimated Markham Waxers twice, and top notch Richmond Hill, Aurora and nemesis TNT to close out the regular season.  This is where the final points will set up play-off seeding so hang on to your seats folks - we`re in the home stretch and the coming games will showcase all the hard work leading up to this point int he season.

Come out to cheer on the Minor Atom AE Clippers at Centennial Arena in Markham on January 9th (puck drop 6:30pm).
