Up 2 in First Round of York Simcoe
The Clippers have faced the Waxers in two tight games, Feb 13th, and Feb 15th, taking away 4 points, winning both tight match ups.

The two games, however, could not have been much different.... Game one witnessed a scoreless match up, in a goalie dual for the shut out.  Connor finally sent one in on a screen shot that the Markham netminder could not track.  This gave the Clippers a single strike advantage through to the last minute of play.  Markham was coming back strong, and had a 6 on 4 PP with the goalie pulled, when the Clippers nailed the insurance shot in an empty-netter.

Adrian stood on his head to keep the Clippers ahead, and took away a well earned shut-out.

Game two had both teams' firing lines queued up.  Charlie started things off with a short-handed goal, assisted by David.  Markham's #10 tied things up, but the Clippers came back immediately on the next play on a nice passing play from Alec to Charlie, and netted by Connor.  The 2nd closed at 2-1 in home turf favour, but Markham's #10 scored once again to open the period (assisted by 99).  To add insult to injury, the Waxers went ahead by another goal at 11:46 of the 2nd, (19 from 66 and 23).  The second period was filled with penalties on both sides ( 3 a piece) as the competition increased.  Geiger finally got one back for the Clippers on a long bomb that fooled the goalie and bounced in from the point.  Connor scored another at 6:15 of the second (assisted by Geiger), and David put an exclamation on it closing the scoring for the period with 28 seconds to go (assist to Prentice).  This put the Clippers in a 2 goal lead at 5- 3.

Charlie book-ended the Clipper goals, once back on the ice after taking a sharp puck to the ankle, and upped the scoreboard to 6-3 around 6 minutes into the 3rd (another assist to Prentice).  Markham showed resilience with another drive to the net (solo effort by 66), and kept up the pressure for the final 7 remaining minutes.  Tensions rose, and certain dual-loyalty families had to mark their commentary carefully to ensure peace for upcoming Family Day.

Final score remained 6-4 in the Clippers' favour.

The two rivals face off again tomorrow at Clipper Complex for what could amount to a final show-down.  The series concludes at first team to 6 points, so the Clippers can seal the series with a win tomorrow.  If not, the series continues with the next game in Markham.

Come out to show your team colours!  Puck drops at 3:10pm.
