Clippers up 3 to 1 in First Two Face-Offs with Colts
The MPW AE boys have completed two sets with Barrie, hosting the Colts for a victorious Home Opener on September 21, and traveling to Holly Rec on September 29th for a tie decision.

Barrie proved to be as fierce as in previous years, and yes, the cow bells still ring and the glass still resonates to the beat of the Colts' sticks.  Barrie does not go quietly for sure.  But Nowaskey was equal to the task in both match-ups, making athletic, show-stopping saves to keep the Clippers in play.

The Clippers fought through some post ball-hockey and football fatigue from the party atmosphere of the tail gate at the rear of Stouffville Arena for the home opener.  The tradition continued with much food and festivity.  Even the rain was chased away, the sun shone brightly and the families all showed their team spirit, donning Clipper jerseys and cheering heartily.  The Clippers came up big with a 3-2 win to start the season.

HOME OPENER

The team headed north to Barrie early on a Monday evening to follow-up game 1 with another match up on Sept 29.  This time the points were split with one a piece, in a 1-1 tie after a lot of tough battles in both zones.  The Colts struck first on an excellent top shelf snipe early in the first.  The game remained 1-0 for what felt like a protracted period.  The Clippers just could not capitalize on the power plays, with Barrie hemming them in and taking up some aggressive break aways.  Fortunately, Nowaskey was sharp and shattered a number of dream opportunities that the Colt players will lament for weeks to come.  Gallagher finally broke the spell in the 2nd, with his own version of impossible from a crazy angle that found 4 open inches in the top left.

The third period gave both teams chances and a lot of traffic in the crease.  Somehow, some way, in the dying seconds of the game, one of those scrambles put the puck deep in the Colt net, but Stripes called it off.  With the final face off in Colt zone, and only 1.2 seconds remaining, the buzzer sounded and the decision landed 1-1.

Just by the hair of their chinny-chin-chin!  And ours too... Hats off to our goaltender!

BARRIE Sept 29

While catching up here on other games, a big SHOUT OUT to Pacheco for the SHUT OUT against the formidable Tigers in Sunday`s game (Sept 28).  Prentice captured the single goal on the night with a speedy break away down the right side in the 3rd, giving the Clippers all they needed to take back 2 points from Aurora following our first game of the season where we lost 4-2 in Tiger territory.  The Clippers also picked up a win in the first match against Richmond Hill on Sept 20.

A solid start to the season, and the coaches are happy with the work ethic developing in the ranks.  Lines are still moving about a bit as the team gets its wings back following a strong season last year.

GO CLIPPERS GO!!!
