What a Start!!
The team played in an early bird tournament in Markham. The kids and coaches were excited to get on the ice and play some games together after all the practicing they have been doing. They did amazing winning 3 games straight to go into the finals against Milton.
After a tough game, they walked away with a silver medal!!! Yahoo!
The first game was against Richmond Hill. The kids came out strong, Jack Allen was the first to put a goal up on the scoreboard, with help from his teammates.
Sebastian, Stefan, Lucas and Julian followed along all scoring goals as well. The defence players held the lines strong, passing the puck up the boards and keeping Richmond Hill out of their zone. Gavin played a great game with Richmond Hill only scoring 3 goals. The game ending in a 6-3 win!
Game #2 was Vaughan, parents couldn't believe how big they were...Haha! The kids had to work hard together, with lots of skating and passing. With a pass from Mason and Malcolm, Stefan got a goal. The 2nd goal was a quick one by Thomas, with help from his line mates Jeremy and Bennett, making the score 2-1. With hard work the defence held Vaughan back, getting the puck out of their zone and up to the forwards. Jack Burrows was in net for his first start and played terrific! Working together they kept the score to a 2-1 victory!!
The 3rd game was against Aurora, now the kids were really pumped after 2 games and 2 wins!!! The team was determined to try and make it 3 in a row. With help from his line mates, Julian scored making the game 1-0. But Aurora answered back with a goal. Now 1-1, Coaches gave them a pep talk in between periods, which worked because the next period they got a goal. Stefan scored with help from the defence (Liam and Cole). Final score 2-1 another win!!!
On to the finals against Milton! The kids were working hard and got the 1st goal, scored by Stefan and Mason, with a pass up from Tommy. Milton then scored 2, but the team continued to work hard. Nicholas digging the puck out of the corner and pops it out to Hudson, he sends it out up the boards and Julian scores.
The coaches called a time out and talked to the boys. They didn't give up!! But in the end Milton won final score 4-2.
The boys won the silver medal!!! What a great start to what will be an exciting season!!
