A Hard-Fought Gold Medal for the Minor Pewee AE Clippers at the Pickering Spring Thaw Tournament March 30 –April 2, 2017
It was a
well-earned victory for Stouffville’s Minor Pewee AE’s at this weekend’s Pickering Spring Thaw Tournament at the
Legends Arena in Oshawa.
The team came out
strong with an 8-2 victory against the Pickering Panthers, and another against the Markham Waxers White,
3-1, on the first day of the tournament.
They were defeated 6-3 on Saturday however, by the Milton Winterhawks, and then went on to beat the Markham Waxers Blue in a close 4-3 victory later that day, advancing them to the semi-finals.
It was another close win on Sunday against the Peterborough Petes, 3-2 which advanced them to the finals later that day.
Despite an aggressive and skilled opponent, the team came together to defeat the Milton Winterhawks in the final game 3-0, with an incredible shutout.
