Major PeeWee AE win silver at the Ace Bailey Memorial Tournament in Stoney Creek
Congratulations to the Major PeeWee AE team for their Silver Medal Win at the Ace Bailey Memorial Tournament in Stoney Creek (October 19-21).
The tournament started with a win a 6-3 win against Georgina Blaze followed by a 4-0 loss against the Stoney Creek Warriors. The next day of the tournament brought the Clippers a 2-1 win against the Hamilton Huskies (White) team and then another victory against the Hamilton Huskies (Red) team with a score of 5-1.
This placed the Clippers in 2nd place and the boys were eager to get another chance to play against the 3rd place Stoney Creek Warriors. They came out ready to play and were on fire. With mere minutes left in the final period, the Clippers trailed by 1 point. A time-out was called and a strategic move to pull the goalie was made. It worked.....we tied the game with mere minutes remaining on the clock. Game went into double overtime and we scored the winning goal to take us on to the finals. That was an incredibly exciting and nerve wracking game for all!
The boys were pumped going into the finals to play the 1st place team the Brantford 99ers. In a hard fought battle, Stouffville fell short to Brantford with the Clippers taking home the Silver medal. These boys played like champs, encouraged and supported each other and represented their home town in a manner that makes us all extremely proud.
Congratulations on a well deserved win boys!
