WHITCHURCH-STOUFFVILLE CLOSES FACILITIES UNTIL APRIL 14
In response to these recent developments, the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville is taking a proactive approach at ‘social-distancing’ and has made the decision to close all Town facilities until April 14, effective midnight tonight. This closure affects all Town services, programs and events that were to be held at these facilities, including all March Break camps and programs. Those camps and programs are cancelled.

“The Town is taking swift and decisive action to protect out residents and prevent the spread of COVID-19,” said Whitchurch-Stouffville Mayor Iain Lovatt. “The health and well-being of our community is a top priority and we feel that taking this proactive approach is the best solution for everyone in Whitchurch-Stouffville.”

The Town facilities affected include:

• Stouffville Arena
• Stouffville Clippers Sports Complex
• Whitchurch-Stouffville Leisure Center
• Whitchurch-Stouffville Public Library
Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum and Community Center
• SoccerCity
• The Lebovic Centre for Arts & Entertainment – Nineteen on the Park
• All Community Centers
• 6240 Main Street/55+ Club

Town Hall, located at 111 Sandiford Drive, will be closed to the public, however services via online and telephone will remain. Residents are asked to visit our website at townofws.ca for more information.

All non-essential activities associated with Fire & Emergency Services will be cancelled but emergency services will remain. All parks, parkettes and outdoor facilities will remain open to the public.

“We recognize the impact this decision will likely have on families and our facility users,” Mayor Lovatt said. “but this precaution is necessary to help keep people safe. The situation with COVID-19 is rapidly changing, and we will continue to adjust our operations according to the recommendations of health authorities.”
