Tryout Changes for the 2020-21 Season
While tryouts for the 2020-21 season are still a few months away, we want to alert everyone to some significant changes being introduced this year.

Under 11 (Atom, Minor Atom, Novice, Minor Novice. All rep team tryouts for players who are under the age of 11 as of December 31, 2020 will occur in September in compliance with the new Hockey Canada pathway for younger players. There will be no Spring tryouts for these age groups. More information re: these tryouts will be published on this website at a later date.

U18 (Midget).  As has been the case in recent years, Midget rep tryouts will commence in September

U12 to U16 (Minor Peewee to Minor Midget). All rep tryouts will take place in late April and early May. New this year: There will be a gap of one week between the completion of AA tryouts and the start of AE tryouts.  Players who tryout for, but fail to obtain a spot on the AA roster may request an “NRP Passport” and attend “A” tryouts at a nearby “A” centre such as East Gwillimbury, Georgina or King.  Such players are still eligible to return to Stouffville to tryout for AE.

U12 and U3 (Minor Peewee and Peewee). All players trying out for rep teams at these age groups are expected to attend the AA tryouts; if they attend the AA tryouts, but fail to make the AA team, they may request an “NRP Passport” following the second AA tryout to try out at an “A” centre, or alternatively, they can proceed to AE tryouts.

U14, U15 & U16 (Minor Bantam, Bantam and Minor Midget). Any player wishing to try out for rep is welcome to attend both the AA and MD tryouts.  However, players who do not want to participate in a league where body checking is permitted are not required to attend AA tryouts ie they can attend MD tryouts only.  Please note: NRP passports to try out  at an “A” centre will not be issued to players who do not first attend AA tryouts.

Tryout Fees: A flat fee of $60 per player is required to attend rep tryouts in Stouffville regardless of the number of tryouts a player attends.  A separate fee will apply to any player trying our for an “A” team in another centre.

No Cash: New this year we will accept Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and Android Pay as well as Debit. Please, no cash.

Pre-registration: All players planning to attend tryouts must be registered and paid with Hockey Canada (Hockey Canada Link) as well as filling out the try out form (Try Out Form) to help eliminate line ups at the try out desk.

AAA Tryouts: Any Stouffville resident planning to attend a AAA try out must obtain a permission-to-skate form from the Hockey Office prior to the try out.  You will not be allowed on the ice without this form. Stouffville residents may try out for Markham Waxers at AAA; they may try out with another AAA team if they first obtain a permission-to-skate from the Waxers.

Under-age Players: Players who wish to try out for a Stouffville AA rep team in the next older age group may do so if they obtain a permission-to-skate from the Hockey Office prior to the tryout. This is not an option for players trying out for AE (ie AE players can only be rostered to an AE team at their cohort).

Rostered Select. Tryouts for Rostered Select at all age groups will take place in September. Additional information re: Rostered Select tryouts will be posted in late August/ early September.

Please see the Tryout page on the website for the tryout schedule and registration links.
