That's Almost a Wrap!
Submitted By Sharon Taylor on Tuesday, April 05, 2011
Hey PWA Clippers!

Ready to shed our jerseys and move on to a new season (yes SPRING!)?

It has been a year filled with change and development for this group, and we've certainly enjoyed successes, and trudged on through set-backs.  It has all added up to much learning.

Looking back, there were many tests of stamina and rallying moments where we, in the stands, could see the surges of strength, skills, sweat and strategy come together in those elusive moments.  It was tremendous to watch.  Whatever the outcomes, it was a gift to be part of our kids' / grandkids' game.

To our dedicated coaches, Joe, Ryan, Mike Lo., Mike V. and John, many, many thanks for the time and passion you invested in our team.  As all teachers know, many of the things that you pass along to your students will last a lifetime, and sometimes the impact you have may take years to become evident.  One thing is certain, our players benefited from the experiences in being part of this team and from each of you providing many learning opportunities throughout our practices, tournaments and games.

Now, while the coaches kept things going on the ice, there were a couple of silent and unassuming partners making sure things were always 'good to go' without fuss nor muss.  I know I speak for the coaches, parents and the hockey association for the timely and reliable service and support from both Andria Stevens, our co-manager extraordinaire, and Natalie Wood for assisting with keeping the refs envelopes in good order throughout the season.  Thanks ladies for stepping up time and again.

As we are closing 'er down for 2010/2011, we still have a few occasions ahead of us, and the last couple of administrative tasks at hand:

1) THURSDAY, APRIL 7th  -  Practice @7pm-8:30pm
2) THURSDAY APRIL 7th - BLACK JERSEY RETURN PLEASE - to ANDRIA
-name bar / sponsor bar removed  &  "C" & "A" letters as well please where applicable
3) THURSDAY APRIL 14th - Parent / Player match-up  @5:40pm
4) NHL POOL WINNERS & PAYOUTS- TBD once regular NHL season is completed

In terms of team accounting, we are awaiting finalization of the Rep Assessments from the WSMHA, but with the additional town ice purchased for the next 2 dates, we expect to be fairly close to the budget.  We will finalize this as soon as possible and not later than the end of this month.

REMINDER to everyone and extended to friends of Mike Vandervoort and his bride to be, Nathalia, there is a "JACK & JILL" party set for May 7th.  Please see Mike V or me (Sharon) for event tickets.

THANKS EVERYONE for a GREAT YEAR!!!!

Signing off,

Your Webmaster, Co-Manager, GENERAL "ANNOUNCER" and HOCKEY Mom,
ST
