The WSMHA is pleased to remind all prospective Coaches and Players of the further expansion of its Rostered Select program for the 2013-14 seasons. Coaching Applications are due by May 17th, either dropped into the office or emailed to [email protected].

What is Rostered Select? The program is designed to offer House League players an opportunity to participate in exhibition and tournament games with other centres in addition to their regular House League schedule.  There will be an open tryout for all interested players.

Congratulations to Andy Cartwright who won the Steve Wright Memorial Award at the WSMHA annual meeting on April 24th.  Andy has coached the Juvenile AA/AAA team for the last three years and has held many roles with the WSMHA for many years.  Miike Manninen, assistant coach of the Juvenile team accepted the award on Andy's behalf. Andrea Wright and her children were on hand to present the award.

Congratulations to Kristal Kobold, winner of the President's award.  Kristal is well known for her excellent work in organizing the houseleague program and volunteers many hours during the year doing this.  Don Easter presented the award at the WSMHA annual meeting on April 24th.

Congratulations to Jon Colley and Curtis Davis, co-winners of the Dan McNeil Award.  Cindy and Sheila McNeil presented the award to the two players.  The award was given at the annual meeting of the WSMHA on April 24th.  Both Jon and Curtis have been dedicated and respected players in the WSMHA and are very deserving of this award.

It is a proven fact that off-ice conditioning is just as important as on ice hockey skills and drills development.  The good news is that there is no shortage of ways to get in shape, and keep in shape during the off season, whether as a team or on your own.  And, better news still?  You are probably already doing lots of them already!
