Our Midget A RH Early Bird Finalists Give Pause to the AA Debate!
Submitted By Don Easter on Sunday, September 12, 2010
The Midget A team put on quite a show at the Richmond Hill Early Bird AA Tournament (Sept 10th-12th).  With the ink on a partial roster barely dry after tryouts earlier in the week, the team gave its best, taking 4 straight wins through to the semi-finals.

With a strong showing, short-benched in a double A tournament, the Clippers tested the limits and left no doubt with their competition that they are a force to taken seriously.  This is just the warm-up for this team and the coaches have high expectations for continued success.

Series at a glance:

Midget A Clippers vs. Goulding Park Rangers AA - W (4-1)  Hat trick for Mastrangelo and goal for Cadaret; Mills & Machesney
Midget A Clippers vs. Pickering Panthers AA - W (3-2) G Machesney, McMahon & Mills; A: Kostandoff & Palladino.
Midget A Clippers vs. Buffalo Bisons - W  (2-0) (Pontone - shut-out) G: Cadaret & Machesney;
Midget A Clippers vs. Buffalo Bisons - W (3-0) - Semi Finals (Rabito - shut-out) G: Machesney (2), Hasler; A: Cadaret, Matrangelo, Mills, Crago, McMahon
Midget A Clippers vs. Richmond Hill AA Stars (5-6) FINALS - loss in sudden victory shoot-out G: Mastrangelo (2), Crago, Hasler, Machesney; A: Mastrangelo (2), Crago (2), Kostandoff, McMahon

In the finals, Stouffville led most of the way before giving up tying goal with 6 minutes left in third period. Richmond Hill went ahead with 4 minutes to go only to have Stouffville tie with 19 seconds left. Neither team scored in OT and the score remained tied through the first round of shoot out. Stouffville failed to score on its first two shots in the sudden victory shoot-out round; Richmond Hill scored on its second attempt to win the game.

Now, THAT is hockey.

Nicely done Clippers!
