HEAD COACH - CHRIS CARRUTHERS
Background
I discovered my passion for hockey at a very young age, beginning my journey with the Stouffville Clippers rep program and later playing four unforgettable seasons with the Uxbridge Bruins Jr. C hockey club. These early years shaped not only my love for the game but also the core values that continue to guide me today—teamwork, discipline, and perseverance.
With more than eight years of coaching experience in both hockey and baseball at the rep level—serving as both a parent and non‑parent coach—I’ve built a coaching philosophy centered on hard work and accountability. I truly enjoy working with young athletes, helping them grow not just as players, but as confident, well‑rounded individuals.
I live in Claremont with my wife Mallory and our two children, Tanner (2012) and Lennox (2015). As a family deeply involved in competitive sports—Tanner in elite baseball and hockey, and Lennox in competitive dance—we understand firsthand the demands, challenges, and rewards of high‑level athletics. This perspective helps shape my approach to coaching, emphasizing team success, personal development, and meaningful learning moments.
Coaching Philosophy
The program I run is designed to push athletes toward higher‑level hockey. We focus on both strong team structure and individual skill development, running fast‑paced, high‑tempo practices where every player is expected to give maximum effort. By consistently training at or above game speed, we ensure that our players transition seamlessly into competition. Through a steady message of hard work, accountability, and a “Do Your Job” mentality, my goal is to build a foundation that allows our team to grow into one of the top programs in the OMHA.
