APPLY FOR THE BONNIE & GLENN MCDOUGALL BURSARY

Applications are now open for a program that provides financial assistance to WSMHA members enrolling in a post-secondary educational program. The Bonnie and Glenn McDougall Bursary – valued at up to $3,000 annually – is available to current members of the WSMHA planning to attend a recognized Canadian university, community college or trade school. The annual scholarship program honored its first four recipients in 2018. Recipients are chosen by a selection committee composed of WSMHA and Kids First Fund directors from the received applications.

Potential candidates may apply directly, or be nominated by a third party. Nominees/applicants will be required to submit an essay describing how they have demonstrated their commitment to the game of hockey, the WSMHA and/or the community of Whitchurch-Stouffville. Nominees/applicants may be interviewed by the selection committee as part of the selection process. Off-ice volunteer involvement is highly valued by the selection committee. The successful candidate(s) will be honored at the association’s Annual General Meeting in April. Any current member of the association wishing to apply, or anyone wishing to nominate a candidate may do so by submitting a Nomination/Application Form available below. All applications and nominations will be handled in a confidential manner and distribution limited to the selection committee.

Funding for the scholarship program includes a generous annual donation from the proceeds of a popular local golf tournament run by former Stouffville Clipper players Ian, Scott and Devon McDougall in memory of their parents – Bonnie and Glenn.
