HEAD COACH - MARCEL GERVAIS

Background

My name is Marcel Gervais, and I am a dedicated hockey coach with several years of experience with the Stouffville Clippers organization. Growing up in Markham, I played a variety of competitive sports, but hockey quickly became my true passion. I played high school and minor hockey primarily for the Markham Waxers, where I was inspired by the exceptional coaches I had over the years. Their influence made me realize the profound impact of youth sports and physical activity. With three boys of my own currently playing competitive hockey in Stouffville, I felt a strong desire to give back to the community by doing something I love: coaching hockey. Since 2017, I have been actively involved in various coaching roles, and for the past three years, I have had the privilege of coaching my current group of talented young athletes at the competitive level.

Coaching Philosophy and Goals

My coaching philosophy is centered on fostering growth and development in a fun and engaging environment. I believe every player, regardless of their hockey level, has the potential to improve. My goals each season include seeing players grow, learn, and achieve both team and individual goals on and off the ice. I aim to create a positive learning atmosphere where kids can develop their skills and learn valuable life lessons. Emphasizing hard work, effort, and team growth, I encourage players to learn from difficult moments and recognize small wins along the way. Success is seen as winning each battle, shift, and period at a time. I focus on the positives, lessons learned, and the importance of team play, emphasizing that it's not just about winning or losing. I am committed to developing players both on and off the ice, believing in their potential and ensuring they enjoy the game in all aspects.
