HEAD COACH - ANTHONY LOPRESTI
Background
I grew up in Thornhill, where I played AAA minor hockey for the Thornhill Thunderbirds. A few of my most memorable moments in hockey included 2 visits to the OMHA finals and traveling to Europe with my Team representing our community in an international tournament. I was also fortunate enough to play for many great coaches all of whom fostered my passion for the game and helped shape the coach that I am today. In 2007, I moved to Stouffville and began coaching with WSMHA in 2015. In 2021-2022, I was the head coach to the U11 team winning the YSMHL championship and participated in the OMHA red hat tournament.
I am a Dev1 Certified Coach and below are a few highlights of my approach to Player and Team Development.

My coaching approach centers on elite level hockey instruction, hockey IQ development, structured individual Player development plans, and fostering a competitive, supportive and winning Team environment. My development program is designed to achieve both individual Player growth & Team success. By focusing on high-level hockey concepts, structured skill progressions, and in-game hockey IQ development, our Players improve their individual abilities and learn how to execute as a high-performing team.
It is my belief that strong development produces a winning Team, and when Players see measurable improvements in their game, their confidence, commitment, and competitive performance increases. By implementing my systematic, player-first approach that prioritizes skill enhancement, hockey intelligence, and team execution, we develop elite-level players and a competitive Team that challenges our Players to be the very best versions of themselves and battle together towards our championship aspirations.
