HEAD COACH - ANTHONY LOPRESTI
Background
I grew up in Thornhill, where I played AAA minor hockey for the Thornhill Thunderbirds. A few of my most memorable moments in hockey included 2 visits to the OMHA finals and traveling to Europe with my Team representing our community in an international tournament. I was also fortunate enough to play for many great coaches all of whom fostered my passion for the game and helped shape the coach that I am today. In 2007, I moved to Stouffville and began coaching with WSMHA in 2015. In 2021-2022, I was the head coach to the U11 team winning the YSMHL championship and participated in the OMHA red hat tournament.
I am a Dev1 Certified Coach and below are a few highlights of my approach to Player and Team Development.
Commitment to High-Level Hockey Development
I Coach at a competitive level, focusing on advanced hockey systems, situational awareness, and game strategies.
Hockey IQ Development
I teach players not just skills, but also the game’s nuances—reading plays, decision-making under pressure, and adaptability.
Player-Centric Approach
I offer bespoke coaching to the needs of individual players, rather than a one-size-fits-all system.
Comprehensive Custom Playbook
I provide the Players with clear systems and strategies to execute in various game situations.
Evidence-Based Coaching Methods
I use video analysis and review sessions (HUDL), advanced drills, and data-driven approaches (statistics and scouting reports) to improve Player performance and Team success.
