The
Major Bantam Stouffville Clippers RS team defended their 2018 title by winning
the Stouffville Year Ender Bender for the second year in a row. They went
undefeated in the tournament to claim the championship.
The
Clippers were the top seed of 12 teams after round robin play beating Newmarket
5-1, Kincardine 6-0 and Beeton 3-0. In a fast paced semi final the Clippers
defeated the Niagara-on-the-Lake Wolves 3-0. The final game proved to be the
toughest where the team faced a strong squad from Napanee in front of a packed
hometown crowd at the Stouffville Arena. The game was close throughout but the
Clippers held on to win 3-2 in great team effort.
Special mention goes out to goaltender Jeffrey Harder who posted three shutouts in the tournament. The Clippers were highly motivated to succeed after a heartbreaking shoot out loss three weeks ago in the finals of the Anje Giajornio Niagara Tournament, ultimately claiming silver. It was a milestone season for the team reaching the 30 win mark, posting an astounding 30-3-3 record. Great way to end the year! This article has been viewed 507 times.
