OHF Bulletin
Today, the government of Ontario announced additional workplaces that can reopen on Tuesday, May 19 as a part of their Phase One of Ontario’s Reopening.
This reopening included the following statement:
Seasonal businesses and recreational activities for individual or single competitors, including training and sport competitions conducted by a recognized national or provincial sport organization. This includes indoor and outdoor non-team sport competitions that can be played while maintaining physical distancing and without spectators, such as tennis, track and field and horse racing.
This is a positive step forward for sport in the Province. It is important to note that the announcement is specific to individual sports and does not include the reopening of any hockey or hockey-activities within the Province of Ontario.
We support the Province’s encouragement for the public to continue to adhere to public health measures, including practising physical distancing or wearing a face covering when physical distancing is difficult or not possible and regular handwashing and staying home when ill.
We will closely monitor public health’s guidance and await the Premier and Hockey Canada’s Board of Directors announcement to resume sanctioned hockey operations.
