Over the past 2 weekends, on December 4th and 11th, WSMHA generously opened the gates to skating newcomers in the community, hosting our first ever "FUNSKATES". Over 100 kids came out both weekends, some as first-timers using "loaners" to give skating a try, and a few returning the second weekend with brand new helmets and skates in hand. Now that's commitment!!!
One thing was certain, all of our guests had a great time and there were many smiles of delight and warm thanks shared with our volunteer hosts.
This
Saturday, December 18th, we will be having our
FINAL FUNSKATE, once again from 10:00am - 11:30am at the Clipper Complex.
Many thanks go out to our tireless volunteers who have given their time to organize this successful event, hand out and collect borrowed skates and helmets, wrap candy bags, hand out hot chocolate coupons and treats, and help new skaters on the ice.
This has truly been a welcoming gesture and a seasonal gift to the community.
THANK YOU ALL!!!
Special thanks for assistance on December 11th go out to: Andria Stevens, Lisa Rendall, Tim Messner, Harry, Will, Haydn, Simon, Maddy, Jamie, Meagan, Brittany, Midget A helpers, and the helpers from the Stouffville Skating Club.
We are in need of volunteers for our final skate on December 18th (from 9:30am - noon or part thereof).
If you can provide some assistance and would like to come out and help, please contact Charlene Mason at the Hockey Office.
