Minor Hockey Team Stocks Food Shelves
The Stouffville minor midget AE Clippers took their competitive drive out of the arena and into their community, with a team food drive to help those less fortunate during the holiday season.  Challenged by their coach, Brent McIntosh, each player brought non-perishable food items to the Clipper Complex for a weigh-in before the team practice Dec. 18.

Coach McIntosh gave added incentive by donating a new premium hockey stick to be awarded to the player who brought in the most food by weight.
Given the high stakes involved, industrial-grade electronic weigh scales were generously loaned by Scale Services and Sales in Markham, to keep a reliable tally.
All players kept their competitive edge, as  the team contributed more than a half tonne of food, which was picked up by members of the Whitchurch-Stouffville Fire and Emergency Services, who joined the team and coaches for a photograph to celebrate the moment.
