WSMHA MEMBERS - IMPORTANT REMINDER
It is time for the representative team
TRYOUTS. Tryouts begin on Sunday, April 17th and are expected to conclude on May 2nd. For the detailed schedule by team, please refer to the TRYOUTS section on the website menu bar.
Once again this year, combined tryouts are set for each age group, with both the AA and the AE coaches observing sessions to assess all the players for their team level. This format enables the coaches to ...
fairly assess all prospective players in selecting the team. This process also affords an opportunity the AA coach to consider prospective AP's from the AE team, and likewise the AE coach, once he has selected the team, to consider prospective AP's from all other tryout candidates.
The AA coach will have first opportunity to select players from the tryouts. Upon completion of the one or more of the tryout sessions, the AA coach may start to offer players a position on the AA team. It is expected that, in most cases, the AA coach will complete this selection by the third tryout date. The AE coach will also be observing the all tryout sessions, and will select the AE team over the course of the 4 tryout dates.
ELIGIBILITY
In order to attend tryouts and be considered for any WSMHA representative team, players must:
1. BE REGISTERED (including payment credit card or cheque received and verified by the WSMHA office). This applies to Stouffville residents. Non resident players with "passports" from their home centres do not need to be registered ahead of time.
2. For returning WSMHA players, BE IN GOOD STANDING; (i.e. no fees outstanding from prior seasons)
3. For non-resident players*, PROVIDE A VALID "PASSPORT" signed off by home centre
*NRPs are only eligible to be considered from "A" base centres. These include Uxbridge, Port Perry or EG. This EXCLUDES Markham, Newmarket, Aurora or Rich Hill. Also, NRP's may only be considered for Minor Peewee ('00) level or older.
TRYOUT FEES are $12 (cash) per session, with a maximum cost of $36. SPECIAL GOALIE TRYOUTS are scheduled for Sunday, April 17th from 9-noon. These tryouts are at no cost to goalie candidates. (Details on tryout schedule). Goalies must also attend their team tryouts.
