One of the basic operating principles of the WSMHA is that no child who wants to play hockey should be denied the ability for purely financial reasons. With that in mind the Association several years ago established the Kids First Fund to help underwrite the cost of hockey registration fees for families which were experiencing financial constraints. Funding for this program comes from various events sponsored by the WSMHA as well as the generosity of our members and the community at large. More than a dozen players benefitted from the Kids First Fund last year. Funding is available for the upcoming season. Requests for financial assistance can be made in confidence through Charlene Mason at the Hockey Office (905) 642-2835.
Members of the community can also nominate deserving recipients- again in confidence- by contacting Charlene. Nominations and requests are forwarded for consideration to a small committee of independent volunteers which administers the Kids First Fund.
