HEAD COACH - CHRIS CARRUTHERS

Background
I discovered my passion for hockey at a very young age, beginning my journey with the Stouffville Clippers rep program, followed by four incredible seasons with the Uxbridge Bruins Jr C hockey club. These formative years instilled in me not only a love for the game but also the values of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance.

With over six years of coaching experience in both hockey and baseball at the rep level— as both a parent and non-parent coach — my coaching philosophy emphasizes hard work and accountability. I thoroughly enjoy working with kids and guiding them to become not only better athletes but also smarter well-rounded individuals.

Living in Claremont with my wife Mallory and our two children, Tanner (2012) and Lennox (2015), We have a deep, personal understanding of the competitive sports world. Our family is actively engaged in high-level sports; Tanner competes in AAA baseball and hockey, while my daughter excels in competitive dance. This firsthand experience informs my approach to coaching, ensuring that I appreciate both team success, key learnings and individual growth.
Coaching Philosophy
In the program I run, our aim is to stretch athletes to a higher-level hockey. We focus on both team structure and individual skill development, running fast-paced, high-tempo practices where every player is expected to give their all. By pushing practice sessions to game speed and beyond, we create a seamless transition to game time. With a consistent message of hard work and a “Do Your Job” mentality, I am dedicated to building a foundation that will help our team become one of the best in the OMHA.
