Novice AE Starts York-Simcoe Semi Final Round Vs. Georgina
After a lengthy lay-off, the Novice AE Clippers resumed playMarch 5th, this time against the Georgina Blaze.  The team had long since finished a 4 game series against Orillia 2 weeks earlier, putting up a great battle in the OMHA round.

The Clippers were eager to get back into game play and notched up 2 goals in the first period: the first to Gabriel with a top shelf, goalie-heart-breaker at 6:50; the second awarded to Hayden on a powerplay scramble in front of the net, assisted by Mick.  10 minutes later, at 4:27 in the second, Gabriel, assisted by Cal and Marcus, scored again to bring the tally to 3-0.

The Clippers had a number of chances, but didn't convert on the near goals.  Finally, the Georgina Blaze stole the shut-out from Nick, on the grit and commitment of one of their players who picked off a clearing pass and deked around the defense with some nice stick-handing and made a picture-perfect pass across the crease to the open side, where his team-mate knocked it in.

3-1 still left the Clipper in command, but the Blaze were not dis-suaded.  They continued to push onward and were awarded some chances with a 5 on 3 penalty,  Eventually the pressure resulted in a blue line turnover which converted to a line drive slapshot into the back of the net.  Suddenly with under 5 minutes to go, the Clippers had some pressure to contend with, including a PK in the last minutes

It didn't come to a tragic end, however, as the D carefully managed  the low end of the house and the forwards put pressure on the pass and shooters.  Nick made the much needed saves, and finally the forwards took the puck to the other end, hoping for the empty netter.  No more goals at either end, and finally the buzzer closed out the game at a 3-2 victory for the rusty Clippers.

This was the warm-up for the week, which sees game 2 on Thursday in Georgina, and game 3 again in Stouffville on Friday.  That will bring on the March Break, and with some luck and hardwork and SHARP play, this will be a successful conclusion to the York Simcoe semi-finals for the Stouffville Clippers.

WISH US WELL, Stouffville!!!  The kids are still going strong and have lots of hockey left in their skates this season!!!
