The Stouffville Minor Bantam AA Clippers were pumped, hosting the Georgina Blaze in York Simcoe action last Friday in Stouffville. The Blaze were coming off a win against Richmond Hill, a tie with Aurora and a close 2-1 loss to Barrie, so the boys were in for a challenge. The Clippers showed a lot of jump from the opening faceoff, thoroughly dominating the first period while outshooting Georgina 8-3. Between Rodgers and Barton, they won 78% of their first period faceoffs, and the constant pressure left the Clippers ahead 2-0 at the end of the first on tallies Von Kaufmann from Dynes and Rodgers from Dunlop. The first goal was a power play marker and really showed how hard they have been working on the specialty teams at practice. A steady string of penalties in the second upset the flow of the Clipper attack and, down to three skaters on the ice, Georgina capitalized to make it 2-1. Barton from Von Kaufmann restored the two goal edge before the second period ended. Georgina came out strong in the third and they earned a quick power play marker to make it 3-2 before tying it up on a four on four. But the Clippers didn't give up, continuing to skate and laying on the body and it paid off on Barton's second goal of the game, unassisted . Then, in a great example of why you would never give up on any play, Strumos stole the puck from the Georgina goaltender and sealed the well deserved 5-3 win with a short handed unassisted marker. Great effort as the Clippers recorded their second highest shot total of the year - 19 compared to Georgina's 25.
