Three Worthy Winners of the 3 "C's" Challenge
It's been a very busy and successful past 3 months for the Midget AA Clippers, with many outstanding examples of the 3 "C's", the key attributes that each member of this team try to demonstrate at all times - Character, Commitment and Courage.  Three individuals have not only demonstrated these attributes, but have shown an additional attribute that have made them worthy recipients of this recognition.  These individuals, and their positive impact on the team are as follows:

Matt Avoledo: during the month of October and November, when the team had both injuries and suspensions, Matt was called upon to show his overall versatility, by playing both forward and defense on any given night at a performance level that exceeded expectations.  In some games, he played both, and always made a seamless transition from one position to the other.  While the coaching staff knew that he had a preference for one position, he accepted the challenge to play the other without question.  This willingness makes Matt a true "team player", and is a characteristic that will serve Matt well in every aspect of life in the future.  Congrats Matt !

Jon Colley: our Captain, and a very worthy Captain.  He constantly delivers on the 3 "C's", but also finds ways to deliver on other attributes that make for a successful young athlete.  Determination, focus and consistency are all words that describe Jon, but the one attribute that Jon demonstrated through the month of December, during critical games, was intensity. Jon hates losing, and this translates to an intensity level that brings out the best in his game.  His intensity was best shown in a recent battle versus Markham.  When they scored a powerplay goal with 25 seconds left to tie the score while Jon was on the ice, he threw himself onto the bench and was livid.  When told to get his butt back on the ice, he became a young man possessed, taking the puck off the face-off, driving through the Markham team, and scoring with 12 seconds left to secure a critical 2 points. Whatever career Jon chooses in the future, this level of intensity will ensure success.  Congrats Jon !

Blake Marconi: it has often been said that successful teams "play like they practice and practice like they play".  The reality is that on any given team, some players understand this, and some players just don't get it.  Blake is one player that not only understands it, he fully agree's with it, and demonstrates it everytime he is on the ice - whether practice or game.  The dedication and effort he demonstrates everytime he hits the ice is noticed by the staff, and the players.  Blake's leading by example will help this team be more successful, and will help make Blake a more successful individual in the future. Awesome effort Blake !

The next few months will be both challenging and fun...and the focus on the 3 "C's", along with the individual attributes that each member of the team brings, will ensure our success.  Looking forward to an entertaining finish to the year.
