The
1st Annual York-Simcoe Midget AA All-Star Game was held in Aurora yesterday,
Sunday Dec. 18th. This game is to acknowledge and reward 2nd year Midget
players in their final year of minor hockey.
Players
representing Stouffville, Barrie, TNT and Richmond Hill made up one team, while
the other team consisted of players from Aurora, Newmarket, Markham and
Georgina. Participating 2nd year Stouffville players, selected by their
teammates, included Matt Hunt, Luke Sear, Kevin O'Boyle, Thomas Kroupis and
Austin Meiliunas.
In a very entertaining game the "good guys" won 4-0, with Stouffville boys scoring three of the goals. Kevin, Matt and Thomas were the goal scorers, with all five players hitting the scoresheet. Kevin was named the MVP for the team.
It was a really good experience for these young men. It was great to watch them come together from all Assiciations, have some fun in the room, then go out and play a fast paced, high intensity, physical, and very skilled game. Thanks to the York-Simcoe Minor Hockey League, with support from the OMHA, for putting this together. Hopefully, this continues to grow and develop into a showcase event that all 2nd year Midgets strive towards.
