Nominations for Annual AGM Awards
With the season winding down, the WSMHA is preparing for the Annual General Meeting to be held on Wednesday April 17, 2024, at the Stouffville Legion at 7:30pm. All members of the association are encouraged to attend. As part of the meeting, the annual awards are presented to well deserving volunteers that have put in countless hours with our players to make the season as enjoyable as possible for them. Nominations will be accepted until end of day on Monday March 11, 2024.
The Don Easter Award
This award is given to a house league volunteer (coach, assistant coach, trainer or convenor) that consistently demonstrates their commitment year after year to the interest of the house league players of our Association. The Steve Wright Memorial Award
This award is given to a representative volunteer (coaches, assistant coaches, managers, or trainers). Nominees are those who have consistently demonstrated their commitment to the interest of the Representative program of our Association. The recipient of this award is the type of volunteer that year after year goes above and beyond their team’s official duties. The Dan McNeil Memorial Award
This award is given to a player (house league or representative of 2006 – 2008 birth years) who stands out among the crowd. The criteria include leadership – on and off the ice, work ethic, perseverance, contribution to the team, and community involvement. The award is not based on player’s skill or on-ice performance (although these can be considerations) and their academic standing is not a consideration. Kids First Bursary
The Bonnie & Glenn McDougall Memorial Bursary is awarded to a current member of our Association registered in their first year of a program at a Canadian post-secondary educational institution. If you are planning to enroll at a recognized Canadian university, community college or trade school, you could be eligible for a bursary designed to recognize an individual who has “demonstrated a commitment to our Community, our Association and the Game."
