Second session to begin January 13, 2013

In response to a number of requests, the WSMHA is pleased to announce a development program designed specifically for Novice to Peewee House League players seeking to enhance their hockey skills- perhaps with the goal of moving to competitive hockey, or simply to increase their enjoyment of the game.  The program will consist of 8 one-hour weekly sessions on Sunday mornings at the Stouffville Arena, Pad B.   The objective of the Skills Development Program is to supplement the efforts of our House League and Select coaches by focusing on age-appropriate powerskating and hockey skill development techniques.

This is the second session we have offfered this year - the first running in the fall until December.
New and returning players are welcome.  Cost is $175. Maximum 20 players per session.  First come, first served. Sunday mornings 9:15am.
Please contact the hockey office to register - 905-642-2835

The program will follow Hockey Canada's Long Term Development Model and will be run by qualified instructors with a high coach/player ratio.

The Skills Development Program will be under the direction of Steve Smith,  Steve has been involved as a coach with Stouffville Minor Hockey for over five years; he has also been a coach with the Markham Waxers AAA and the Stouffville District Secondary School Junior Varsity.  His playing career included three years of Junior Hockey in Thorold, Ajax and Pickering.  He is currently the WSMHA House League Coach Mentor.  Working with Steve, is  Tara McKay, owner of Shooting Stars Hockey School and a certified Kinesiologist and Exercise Physiologist.  Tara played in the National Women's Hockey League, the highest level of Women's Hockey in Canada, and has been an instructor with a large number of teams, clinics and camps. Steve and Tara offered a similar, highly acclaimed program in Stouffville last season.

Interested players may register by contacting the Hockey Office @ (905) 642-2835.  Registration for the 8-week program is $175 and the number of registrants will be limited to 20 players per age group on a first come, first served basis.
