"The Peewee AE Clippers wrapped up a terrific season with a York Simcoe Championship beating Newmarket 4-0 in the final game of an exciting 6 game series.
The Clippers defeated 3rd Place Georgina in the semi-Finals and knew they would be in tough against Newmarket, who defeated 1st Place TNT.The Clippers got off to a quick start with a 5-2 victory on home ice, but Newmarket came back with a 3-0 victory in Game 2. Newmarket’s goaltender, who also played in their three straight semi-final victories against TNT, turned in another key performance and would remain in the net for the balance of the series.Game 3 required a shake-up in order to get some goal scoring and the Clippers came back with a 3-3 Tie on home ice.

Captain Connor Hicks, moving up to left wing from defence, led the way with all three Clippers goals. Using the same strategy in Game #4, the Clippers posted an exciting 2-1 overtime victory, setting up the chance to close out the series in Game 5 on home ice.However, Newmarket came prepared and despite being outshot by a significant margin posted a 4-0 victory forcing Game 6, stifling the Clippers opportunity to win the Championship on home ice.
The Clippers regrouped and caught the Newmarket team off guard with another change in strategy, delivering their best team performance of the year for the deciding game. This Championship represents back-to-back York Region Titles for 12 of the 15 players.The Championship, capping off a 22 Game Playoff run, and a 2nd Place finish after 30 Regular Season Games, was well deserved.
