Clippers Earn Split on Road Trip
The Atom AA team made two long treks for mid-week games against TNT and Barrie. On Tuesday at TNT, the Clippers played a strong game particularly in the first half of the game when they carried the play to the Tornados.
But the puck just wouldn't bounce the Clippers way around the net. The Clippers eventually fell behind 1-0 but continued to show solid defence, goaltending and attacking play as they pressed for the equalizer. But with the net empty and the extra attacker on, TNT was able to shut the door with an empty-netter to take the 2-0 win.
On Thursday night in Barrie, the Clippers again came out to play, showing the same level of energy and determination as they did two nights before. This time the Clippers fared better around the net, breaking a 1-1 deadlock in the second period to take a 2-1 lead, and then importantly continuing to move the puck down the ice with the lead in the third period to avoid giving any sustained momentum to Barrie. This time it was the Clippers who were able to seal the deal with an empty-netter to secure a 3-1 victory.
