Stouffville Clippers U16 MD Win Gold at Halton Hills Tournament
Stouffville Clippers U16 MD team attended the March to the Hills Tournament (March 11-13). Our team won our 2 round robin games against Brampton & Newmarket and tied the third game against Halton Hills.  A win over Newmarket in the semi finals secured our spot against Halton Hills Thunder in Sunday’s finals. No one would have imagined what we were in store for.   In the Gold medal game, the Clippers were well matched against the Halton Hills team. Both teams came out strong and were determined to get on the scoreboard quickly because of the short 10-minute periods.

The game ended with a 1-1 tie with Stouffville taking 26 shots on net and 16 shots from Halton on us. We were going to sudden death overtime! The first Overtime was 4 on 4 for 3 minutes; the game was still tied. We found out that 3 minutes can be a painfully long amount of time. We went to overtime #2 which was 3 on 3 for 3 minutes. The game was still tied. It was very intense mentally, and adrenaline was off the charts in the stands (and probably on the bench too!). We entered our third overtime with 2 on 2.  When the puck dropped, you could hear a pin drop. After 3 minutes of OT, the game was still tied. At the end of the third overtime Stouffville was given our first penalty (for tripping), so to start the fourth overtime (1 on 1), started with two Halton players against our one Stouffville player. Everyone pretty much saw how this would end and it did not look good! Halton’s two players gained possession of the puck and managed to get a shot off on net. Our goalie made an amazing kick save to stop the shot from going in. The net came off and whistle was blown...everyone took a quick pause to catch their breath!  The face off was in our zone to the right of the net, where Halton tried to gain possession of the puck, but our player used his foot to kick it loose, charged forward to get the puck and was off on a breakaway. He took the shot and he scored for a 2-1 win! The place went wild! In all the years our boys have played hockey, this was a game like no other and it was one for the record books! We were well matched and a hard-fought game against Halton Hills.  This was a game that will not be forgotten, and we are so proud of this team! Looking forward to furture success next season in hockey and continuing to proudly represent Stouffville! Congratulations U16MD Clippers!
