Stouffville's Kids First Fund makes headlines across Canada
Stouffville's Kids First Fund is making headlines across Canada with their Learn To Skate program. This started as a local program funded by local families with golf tournaments and donations. The funds are used to run programs like the Learn to Skate, Come Try Hockey as well as an annual bursary awarded to students that plan on attending a recognized Canadian university, college or trade school. The fund also lends a helping hand to families that need some financial assistance to enroll the children in the hockey program.

The Learn to Skate program has gained the attention of Hockey Canada and in conjunction with the OMHA, are helping new-to-hockey families get on the ice and learn the sport we love. The initiative aims to introduce children aged 8-14 to skate in a structured and inclusive environment.

The volunteer program is run by dedicated people who give their time helping children that may never try to skate or play hockey on the ice. Congratulations to the Peter Harmsen, Karen Emmerson, Wendy Armstrong, Nunzio Russo and Jim Mason, the core organizers as well as the many volunteers who come and assist with the on-ice programs.
