Minor Atom "AE", 2014-2015, Rep (Whitchurch Stouffville Minor Hockey Association)

The team is 2 games into the playoffs and what excitement! First up, home and away games against Newmarket.  First game was in Newmarket, the kids were excited and pumped that the playoffs has started.  They came out tough, after the 1st period the game was 0-0.  The 2nd period started with the kids getting as many shots as they could.  The defence holding the blue line, digging the puck out of the corners and getting it up to the forwards. Working as a team!  Then it happened!

The team had some tough games this last week.  There have been some exciting moments as well!  With some players in new positions, some great glove and face mask saves, some assists, without those a team wouldn't have goals! Luca & Joseph worked hard with lots of shots on them.  The defence kept digging the puck out of the corners and passing it out of their zone.  The forwards kept skating the puck down the ice, trying to get shots on the other teams net. Working as a team and keep trying!         ​

Off they went to play for the first time this season, a new team to our loop, Aurora.  The kids seemed nervous to be somewhere new.  But they came out tough with JP scoring the first goal of the game in the 1st period, with help from his team mates.  Then John scored one with a pass up from Fam.  Into the 2nd period JP got a pass from Seb and scored, making it 3-0 for Stouffville.  Then with 10 seconds left in the 2nd period, Aurora scored one.   

Two regular season games played last weekend.  It was the first meeting with Markham since last year.  The kids were excited to see how they would play and if they'd be the same type of team as last year.  So out the kids came and started off the game with a quick first goal.  Francesco passed the puck up to Jaiden, then he passed it over to Lucas, who then put it in the net!  The rest of the first period there were lots of shots, but neither team would score.  Joesph was terrific in net!!   

The weekend started with a drive up too Barrie.  This was the first time to meet and play them, so the kids and coaches didn't know what to expect and were excited to see how they played.  The kids played well and tried hard, Barrie was a tough team.  The team will be ready next time they play them.  Sunday to Newmarket for the first game of the season against them.  The kids were pumped and happy to have a chance to play another game on the weekend and against a team they had played last year.
