Major Atom "AE", 2013-2014 (Whitchurch Stouffville Minor Hockey Association)

Our Atom AE Club have shut 'er down for the season, hanging up their hats and skates for the last time.  The competition for the season closed out a split decision in a two game series for the York Simcoe Lakeshore Challenge against the Whitby Wildcats, hosted in TNT this weekend. The YS-Lakeshore Challenge was a new addition to the season`s game-play last year, with each region`s respective Champions coming together to have a 2 game showdown for a bit of extra fun. ​

The Clipper Cardiac Kids never do things easy, that's for sure!  Just ask parents, coaches and die hard fans who stuck it out through 6 riveting games in the YS finals against the well-matched Schomberg Red Wings. The Clippers Went down in game 1.  As the game played out, it was clear the Clippers and Wings would not be giving up much.  The score remained knotted in a lengthy back and forth 1-1 tie (Clipper goal to 16 Geiger; assisted by 12 Tratnik).  OT seemed inevitable, until at 57 sec remaining, the Clippers lost a battle on the boards and the Wings roofed one over the shoulder of ...

The Atom AE Clippers kicked off March Break with 2 back to back must win games in their round robin play against rivals Newmarket and Richmond Hill. March 7th had the boys spanked out in whites, hosting Newmarket and looking for a repeat win to finish this 2 game showdown.  Play was tight in the first, ending in a 0-0 match up.  Nowaskey foiled the Redmen, giving the Clippers the fortitude they needed to push through to the second.

The Atom AE Clippers completed the series against Markham on a high note - dominating play in Game 4 at Milliken Mills, running up a 5-1 lead into the final count down of the third.  The Waxers put up a last minute threat with a PP goal in the final 3 minutes, followed quickly by another, but it was too little too late to make up for the Clippers' strong play through the preceding 42 minutes of fast action. David put up a "hatty", opening & closing the scoring for the Clippers.  Nicely done!
