The Peewee's brought the YS final round to conclusion in OT of game 4, scoring the extra point early to make it 2-1, and bring down the hometown crowd.  The series will go down in the history books with big time memories, stranger than the weather these days.

With a sudden start at the end of March Break, Pacheco diagnosed with pneumonia and Nowaskey a thousand miles away with no flight options on the busiest day of the year for Pearson, Charlie Berry put on the pads for game 1.  Berry had one 'training' session from expert sis, Jessica, and was rated as "Good to Go" in a once in a lifetime opportunity to face down the end of the Barrie Blue gun barrels.

It's in the history books and already old news for Clipper followers... But last Sunday the PWAE crew took their black jerseys up the 400 to NTRC to face down the TNT Tornadoes for a rarified clutch game six.  The series went back and forth, with Clippers taking game 1 at home, then losing the next two, resulting in a do or die game 4 in TNT.  The boys took that game handily, with a 10-2 win (although the game sheet missed the final goal!) The Peewee Clippers finished up the regular 30 game season on January 17th, landing a 50 point season, with 25 wins and 5 losses, placing second overall.  The season brought many highlights centred on building a team and building character on the ice and off the ice.  Showing strengths in our season was an outcome of investing beyond the W:L ratio - the coaches always expanded the learning opportunities from game play to the bigger project: developing character through our sport.  The team experiences included  kick starting with 3 days of away camp, challenging tournaments, and various team events. The Clippers have been busy since our last article - with a great performance in the Silver Stick (Tying Uxbridge 1-1; Winning against Aurora and Georgina, but unfortunately after a hard battle, losing in in the semi's 1-0 in the final minutes of the third).  League record still stands tall, marking only one loss since the tourney (Dec 19 to Markham), but taking back 2 points the next night against nemesis Barrie White....

Forgive the shorthand on our game results, but afterall, we are steam-roller-blading ahead with only 2 days to go til Christmas.  So there is much to do off the ice as we take a short and much needed break from the hockey rink to re-group with family, friends and other sometimes forgotten parts of ourselves.

We are mid-season, with 15 regular season games completed, and the Clippers can be proud of a strong record so far.  But we are only 1/2 way to playoffs with a lot of challenging hockey ahead.

Following a great match-up in exhibition play with the Whitby Wildcats, the boys picked up a win against Bradford last Thursday, with another shut out marked for Ethan.  The defensive play kept the Bulldogs at bay, but the scoreboard was not tilted until late into the game.  The Clippers struggled to get one by the amazing play of the Bradford netminder and strong defense that foiled many attempts.

Tomorrow is Remembrance Day.

What does this have to do with hockey you might ask?  Maybe not much.

Except for the multitude of mini history lessons Trainer Scott shares with the team, many of which bring some war stories to life, always with a view of character development.  Common themes include determination, bravery, sacrifice... There is something simply important to be learned from the past, and developing an appreciation for what sacrifices others made for our country and freedom.. Read More

For those following, we are up one game this week against Bradford on their home ice, with a nice shut out earned by Ethan (final 2-0).  The Clippers played well and had their chances.  Still Bradford kept the scoreboard close.

In another tight battle Tuesday, Oct 27th, Barrie White defeated the Clippers 5-4.  The boys were on point, keeping it tight throughout the play, but Barrie managed 2 short-handed goals with notable sharp play by their #22, dangles, speed and trick or treat syle shooting.  Read More
